Rev. John Burton
John+ became our Priest in Charge in May, 2025 after celebrating our Wednesday morning Eucharist for almost two years. He was moved to leave retirement by the seriousness with which we engaged in our discernment process and our commitment to discipleship.
John+ and his wife KC moved to MDI in 2019 after serving a parish in Northeast CT for 14 years. His passion in ministry is helping people discover and celebrate the presence of God in their lives through preaching, leading creative liturgy and teaching. His current favorite questions are: ‘What is life for?” and “How much is enough?” Prior to ordination John directed community based mental health programs, developed supportive housing for people with mental health disabilities and worked as a carpenter and contractor. You can usually find him walking on the Island with his dog Jack, playing Celtic music or working in his shop.
